XNXX Help Page : Security and Privacy Against Adware and Spyware
Address:
SECURITY AND PRIVACY INFORMATIONS AND HELP
This page contains absolutely no commercial links. Its purpose is to help you out with the various problems that you will encounter surfing websites (adult or not).

Updated October 7th 2006

Introduction

Surfing internet is not always safe. Sometimes you will have to browse through many unwanted popup windows, decline repetitive dialers install programs, see your startpage changed without your consent, new bookmarks added unknowingly. The new 'hot' thing for crooks is to make you 'install' programs (they call it installs) that are filled with adware (this is legal) or spyware. Nevertheless, adwares are very annoying and users rarely know what they are installing or they probably wouldn't click that 'YES' button.... A general term for annoying and deceptive software is malware.

Adware adds unsollicited advertising to webpages you visit, and various other things that are plain and simple theft (like modifying affiliate link codes to their own, on commercial sites). They come from many sources, webpages can make you install them unknowingly if you are surfing without protection or with outdated browser or operating system, or popular softwares like Kazaa can install them onto your computer.

Spywares record your surfing activity to sell your informations to spammers, and also track and collect your login infos to bank accounts online, and any other online control panel. Spywares are illegal (in the US).

Before going further, let us give you some informations on our site, and explain you why XNXX links are not totally free of this stuff.

We provide links to galleries containing sex pictures and movies. Many of the galleries are of our own (these are 100% clean and safe), but not all. Adult webmasters can come to our site to submit their own galleries, we review them, and if they are good and clean, we add them to our database system. The problem is : some webmasters just can't live honnestly and change their galleries after they were submitted to XNXX. They add installs, popups, dialers, anything that makes money.

Addition Oct 2006 : we do not take any 'free' and 'anonymous' gallery submissions anymore since summer 2005, we now work exclusively with profesional webmasters (submitters). That means the rate of 'bad' and cheating galleries is close to zero for the new galleries. And we are slowly getting rid of the remaining bad links entirely.

Download and install free anti adware and spyware tools

We suggest the three following tools, they are free. I would really suggest installing the three (I have them on my system).

  • Ad Aware - The personal edition is free. It was choosen by google to add in the bundle for their toolbar. Download.

"AdAware is a privacy tool, that scans your memory, registry, hard, removable and optical drives for known data-mining, aggressive advertising, and tracking components. It then lists the results and offers to remove or quarantine the components. The program detects a wide range of adware/spyware related issues and can be updated with the latest signatures via the built-in update utility. The free version is strictly a scanner, and does not provide any real-time protection."

  • Spyware Blaster (freeware) It doesn't scan and clean your system, but prevents malware from being installed in the first place. Download.

"It achieves this by disabling the CLSIDs of popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage. This allows you to run Internet Explorer with Active-X enabled, but it will never download or even prompt you for any of the known ActiveX controls. All other Active-X controls or plug-ins will work fine. The SpywareBlaster database contains information on these known spyware Active-X controls and can be updated with the click of a button. The application windows displays a list of all controls that it is able to detect (this is not a list of what was found on your computer). The program cannot detect if you have any of the known objects already installed, but if you do, they will be disabled. The program also allows you to take a snapshot of your computer (certain settings) in its clean state and later revert many changes made by spyware and browser hijackers."

  • Spybot (freeware) I used to suggest it alone on this page but I found the one installed on my system hasn't worked very well recently (can't get updates or finish a complete scan). Download.

"Spybot - Search and Destroy is an adware and spyware detection and removal tool. This includes removal of certain advertising components, that may gather statistics as well as detection of various keylogging and other spy utilities. In addition, it also securely removes PC and Internet usage tracks, including browser history, temporary pages, cookies (with option to keep selected) and more.It can even scan your download directory for files that have been downloaded, but not yet installed, allowing you to detect unwanted programs before you even install them." (reviews from Snapfiles.com)

After installing them don't forget to check for updates (from inside the program) frequently, download them, and run system scans regularly. I think these 3 softs combined offer quite a high level of security against malware.

Update your Windows system and IE browser frequently

Cheaters use security flaws to install unwanted programs. Update your softwares frequently and you will less likely become infected. We are talking about Microsoft systems and browsers because they are the target of cheaters, being the most popular.

Keep your browser up to date, visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp and get the latest version and patches for MS Internet Explorer.

Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and download the latest upgrades and security patches for Windows systems. Microsoft finally added a popup-killer into his service pack 2 for windows XP, you should definately install it. However it cannot block all popups because their programs still have some security flaws that can be exploited to launch popups. Read this section for further help.

If you update regularly you can really avoid a lot of surfing problems. Click here to add this page to your bookmarks so you can have the download links handy in the future.

Help us by reporting bad links to keep our pages clean

With everyone helping we can provide a better porn surfing experience to everyone.

You can find this button at the left of every gallery link on XNXX (pictures, movies). If you surf a gallery that contains a popup, a dialer link, an image link not leading to the big picture, or a movie thumbnail not leading to the movie, if your antivirus gives you a warning on the page, if you notice your starting page has been changed, if you see new bookmarks have been added to your browser mysteriously, or any other bad stuff, you should click this report button. We are checking the reports daily and delete the galleries that are seriously reported. That means, the more comments you add to the report, the more detailed they are, the most likely we will trust your report and delete the gallery. This includes giving us a real email adress; read below.

Our policy regarding email advertising

It is very simple : we do not do or tolerate unwanted email advertising. That means our links are free of sponsors collecting surfers emails, because most of them will simply spam your email, sell your email multiple times, etc. If you find a gallery (the manual reviewing process can never be perfect) containing such links, you should report it to us and we will delete it.

Link reports : we ask you to enter your email adress when you report a bad link to us, we use it only to ask you additional informations, if needed. The email adresses we receive are not stored anywhere, the reports are simply deleted after reading. Of course we do not sell them to anyone beforehand. I receive enough spam daily and I do not want surfers to receive more than they probably do already.

The parasite test online

Click on this link (opens in a new window), this will launch the parasite test (javascript), then read the results below detection script. If your computer is infected they will tell you how to uninstall the parasite.

You might prefer to download and install spybot, though, as it is much more simple of use and can detect much more unwanted programs; the parasite pages often only tells you how to remove the parasites manually, meaning editing the registry, typing dos commands, etc.

Shortcut : test your computer.

Tricks and Free Popups-Killer

Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox now both have integrated popup blocking tools, however you will still encounter popups here and there because there are still ways to open popups.

Against remaining popups your best and most easy-to-use weapon is a simple keyboard shortcut : ALT + F4. Press them simultaneously and it will immediately close the active window. You can do it fast enough to close very fast opening popups.

You might find some windows that you cannot close with AFT+F4, try another shortcut : control + w. If you still can't close them, use control + ALT + Suppr to open the task manager to select and kill the application manually.

MyDoom Email Virus : Scanning and Removal

MyDoom is a new email virus spreading fast and infecting all mailboxes with infected mails, etc...

Please note : you may have received infected emails from our domains : xnxx.com or xnxx-pics.com but WE ARE NOT SENDING INFECTED EMAILS. You receive them because some of our surfers are infected with it from various sources. Try to find more infos on the way the virus is spreading and you will see you can receive infected emails from people who are not infected, simply because the infected emails came from other people, but it is not showing their true email adress.

We found a cool free page where you can have your system scanned and if the virus is found, it will be removed.

Thanks to Webroot for the free tool.

How to remove libereco dialer from your system

This is a forwarded email a surfer sent to us because he couldn't get rid of the dialer; maybe other surfers will find the informations useful.

"Dear Customer,

here you'll find the latest update of the uninstall-tool:

http://econnect.libereco.net/uninstall/uninstall.exe

- run the uninstall.exe

- then delete the destop icon and the Icon in the system tray in the lower right hand corner manually.

- reboot your computer

To delete the dialer manually:

1. Run regedit.exe

2. Find

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mircosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

3. On the right hand side, are all the programs that starts automatically.

(You will see the path for the program as well, delete the entry out of the regestry and please make sure to delete it also from your harddrive)

4. Delete links out of the start menu and from the desktop.

Please check here HKEY_LOCAL_MASHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, too if the dialer still stays on.

If this still doesn't work, please check if there is a rdve.exe on your computer.

If there is, please go ahead like this:

After using the uninstall program, re-start windows in MS-DOS mode.

Then change to the directory where the file rdve.exe is located and delete the rdve.exe-file manually.

(To change into the directory use command:

cd C:\exampledirectory1\exampledirectory2\

and confirm with ENTER, then, when you are inside the directory, type in

dir

and confirm it with enter. Now you will see the files in that directory.

If you have found the rdve.exe, type in:

del rdve.exe

and ENTER to delete the file)

Now please turn back to the Windows Mode it should be gone then."

Removal of the browser hijacker known as CoolWebSearch

This 'hijackware' has many forms and is very hard to remove so the best we can do is point you to this complete information page :

The CoolWebSearch Chronicles, thanks to Spywareinfo.com.

If you surf TGPs a lot chances are you have encountered or will encounter a site run by a scammer that will use CWS to steal traffic (redirect you when you try to access some pages). Remember the best to keep safe is to always have your browser and operating system up to date.

Added may 2005 : an email from one of our surfers : "great links (thank you) unfotunatly they did not help with the latest version of c.w.s. the only way to get it out of my system apart from compete f.disk was to command promt at boot , delete autoexec.bat, win.com, himem.sys, ifshlp.sys, command.com, and finally dblbuff.sys ...reload from anther system (1 at a time via floppy) reboot in safe mode and restore via backup to a clean system it will not remove the trojan but it stops anything looking at it and reenergising it [...] cheers mark"
