DRAGONBALL Pushed to April 2009

For reasons unknown, the Dragonball movie has been delayed. The film has been shooting for sometime now and yet 20th Century Fox is pushing the big screen adaptation from August 15, 2008 to April 3, 2009. When the studio gives a specific reason, we'll pass it along. The anime adaptation will star Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim and Ernie Hudson. Director James Wong also penned the screenplay.

Plot Concept:
"Dragonball" is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys.

Everybody say it with me: WhooooOOOO CARES!!!

Best Luke voice, "I care".

Maybe they want to take their time with it to make it better. I am willing to wait. Strike delays?

If they do this right it could have some unique fighting battles better than Matrix.

I totally agree with you, Dazzler. I care too because I'm trying to be optimistic.

In my eyes, this movie is going to go one of two ways: fantastic or the-biggest-pile-of-crap EVER!

I'm all for giving something a chance. I don't know anything about Dragonball, but the plot sounds semi-interesting to me, so I'll wait to see the trailer. So I guess that means I sorta care.
By the way Dazzler, the Luke thing made me laugh.

I care as well as I will definitely see this film in theaters as well as probably buy the DVD, I mean the movie sounds like if nothing else it will be a fun CGI laden beatem up movie, which essentially thats all DB and DBZ were anyway, really dumb fun shows where you watch to characters beat the hell out each other for 20 or so episodes.

That said I kind of felt like this would be pushed back since they were still casting people in late January and early February I kind of felt like there was no way the film would be done by August 1 of this year.

Also its probably a smart move to change the films date as the film would face some heavy competition in August with new films being released and the Blockbuster holdovers staying strong.

almostunbiased,

If you're an anime fan, DB and it's follow-up DBZ (not the horrible garbage DBGT that came later) are classic anime series.

Some of the fights tend to carry on too long (looking at the Frieza saga DVDs on my shelf), but the storyline is pretty good and at over 400 episodes, it's hard not to get attached to at least one character by the end.

I highly recommend it, although I'd netflix it, so you don't end up with 100 Dragonball dvds on your shelf like me.

I don't care for anime, I think it sucks. But if you take some of the concepts and stories and turn them into live action movies, I'm more than willing to give it a try, so I guess I care a little. But I still think this is going to be crap.
AzulTaLoN, Day of the Dead is supposed to be released in April. Just hold on for one more month, unless they keep pushing it back.
